This past
few weeks life has been very tough for me and I know that a weekend
of beach getaway is something that I need to recharge myself. I first thought
of camping in Anawangin Cove. I have seen a lot of beautiful pictures and have
read a lot of blog about it but, I can’t find any travel buddy to
go with me and the thought of me camping alone in a place I have never been to
is a little scary. (Movies like “Wrong Turn” kind of flashes in my mind…. Hehehe
… Coward!!!) Hey, if anyone is reading this blog and would like to go camp with
me in Anawangin Cove, I will really appreciate it, just contact me. I was
still lucky to come across this blog about Pundaquit Beach in San Antonio
Zambales.
Pundaquit
is a fishing village in the town of San Antonio Zambales. Going there is a
little of a disaster for me because I did not research properly on how to get
there.I just ask some of my colleagues on how to get to Zambales.
So, I go to the bus station in cubao at around 10:00 in the evening knowing only this “ Pundaquit-is-a-Barangay-located-in-San Antonio-Zambales” at the bus station I just ask some drivers on how to get to San Antonio Zambales and the driver told me to
"take the bus (their bus) going to Dau Terminal in Pampanga, where I can catch a bus going to Zambales, since there are no buses scheduled to go to Zambales at that time, and so I did.
The travel is like an hour, at Dau Terminal, again I ask some driver the same question, Where can I catch a bus going to Zambales? and the driver told me that I can get a bus going to Alaminos Pangasinan and from there I can get a bus going to zambales".
I almost thought of giving up. The travel is like forever, worst thing is I have no Idea where was I because its dark and I can’t see any road signs.
I reach Alaminos at 3:00 in the morning, this time I ask some of the locals where can I get a Bus to Zambales and they told me that I have to wait until 4:30 in the morning to get a bus going to some Town (nakalimutan ko na, siguro sa pagod) in Zambales, where I can get a bus going to San Antonio Zambales.
I get a coffee and burger at some burger stand near the terminal and wait for the bus, and so the bus came and they drop me off at the place where I can finally get the Bus going to San Antonio Zambales. At first I thought that after a very tiring bus ride, I am near the place. I almost fell on my seat when I ask the driver how long is the Travel to San Antonio Zambales and he told me that its around three hours.
It’s funny because every town we passed by is almost all name after the Saints and every time the driver announces where were we, like “ SAN” followed by the name of the saint not “Antonio” I was like, OK just smile and laugh about it since I have travelled this far and there is no getting back. Finally, the driver announces San Antonio. I had my early lunch first in the town then find a tricycle to Brgy. Pundaquit.

When I
reach the beach, I was amazed by the beauty of the place that I forgot my
disastrous travel all the way here. The salt and pepper colored sand, the
mountains behind the beach, and the Island visible from the beach which I was
told is Capones Island is picturesque. There are only a few hotels in the beach
but I see some constructions in progress. I did nothing but swim, walk along
the beach rest for a while in a shade of Pine trees and take pictures, enough
to forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a very satisfying weekend
despite some bumps along the way. On my way back to manila is a total opposite
of what I have experience getting there, I only ride one bus going to Caloocan,
easy.
The road to beautiful things is not a smooth ride; it’s a little bumpy, so just smile every time life gets bumpy because you would not know, there might be beautiful things ahead of you.
