It was one of those Sundays when I have nothing else to do. So, I ride a bus to Manila for a walking tour in the historical Rizal Park, Intramuros and Fort Santiago.
The last time I've been there was in college on a field trip for my History class. I did not paid much attention to it then, so I have no idea how it has change.
RIZAL PARK
My walking tour starts at Rizal Park also known as Luneta Park. Luneta Park has been the site to some of the most important moments in the history of the Philippines. Among them are the execution of Dr. Josel Rizal through a firing squad on December 30, 1896, the declaration of Philippine Independence from America in 1946 and other important political rallies.

INTRAMUROS MANILA
As soon as I step in the cobbled street of Intramuros, I was transported back to the Spanish colonial era.
"Intramuros" which means "Within the Walls" in Latin is the oldest district in Manila.
THE FORT SANTIAGO
Fort Santiago is a defense fortress built by Spanish conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. This is part of Intramuros, the walled city of Manila. Dr. Jose Rizal was imprisoned here before his execution in 1896.
